Research collaboration

Start with the question
you need to answer.

PhyZio supports doctors and physiotherapists developing research alongside clinical work. Consultation connects your question with a design and analysis that fit the resources available.

One observation.
A completed analysis.

A physiotherapist noticed that patients who stood earlier after joint replacement seemed to recover faster. With no suitable local dataset, we developed the question using an existing public cohort. Zizi led the methods and analysis; the manuscript has been revised and resubmitted to The Journal of Arthroplasty.

From clinical observation to a study

Shape the study.

Work through the population, comparison, outcomes and data you need. For a study already underway, focus on the decisions that will move it forward.

Work through the analysis.

Prepare and analyse a clinical or public dataset, evaluate an imaging model, or develop an evidence synthesis. Discuss the assumptions, interpret the results and build figures that explain the findings.

Develop the argument.

Connect the clinical question, methods and results in a scientific manuscript. Revision focuses on what the study establishes and how to communicate it clearly.

Build the skills
to continue.

Methods mentoring is part of the work: understanding why an analysis is appropriate, how to read its output and what to do next. Individual and small-group tutoring can focus on a specific method or stage of a study.

A question, a dataset
or work in progress.

Write a short outline of your clinical question, the material you have and the support you need. That gives us a basis for discussing a useful next step and the scope of the work.
